Performance Blocks

Picture
Some clients come to me wanting to take their performance to another level. They may want to be able to master that song, nail the presentation, deepen their character in a performance, or improve their golf swing.

Others have performance blocks. They perform fine until a sudden event, one they may not see as significant, when they lost their ability to stay relaxed. Anxiety builds around the activity until they avoid it all together. This can manifest as stage fright, social anxiety, or just poor performance under stress.

Many everyday struggles can be conceptualized as performance issues: writer's block, procrastination, fear of looking for another job, dating anxiety, and more.

In working with athletes, actors, writers, musicians, and other artists, I have learned that it is often the body that holds the key to performance issues. In exploring what the body remembers we are able to unlock the "stress memory" and free up the energy, giving you back the control you need.

Michelle has extensive training in EMDR for performance and anxiety as well as training in Brainspotting, a technique developed to work with artists and athletes to deepen their relaxation, creativity and improve performance.
